The Mario Kart for the Wii U. Personally, I actually preferred the Mario Kart for the Wii. However, the Mario Kart for the Wii U has the advantages over Mario Kart for the Wii which is a good example for the super franchising spirit that has taken over the industry. As opposed to the near-indentikit sequels that differed only in plot or location (something that Nintendo itself has becoming guilty of).
As a Nintendo fanboy what I’m madly in favour of, is that it revitalized the Wii U that it help sell it, and for the boost in critical and popular support. To put it simply, the core reason that I’m putting Mario Kart for the Wii U on my games of 2014 is because it helped support my console of 2014.
I’ll digress into a discussion of Luigi’s Death Stare. I’m not mad about the memes and references taking the place of actual humour, but if that exists then Nintendo shewed a model of dealing with it. They did not incorporate the meme into the game, the genesis was a reaction to something already in it, nor could anyone expect it to be incorporated into the inevitable sequel. What they did was to make reference to it in a public event, showing that they were keeping abreast to what was going on, but they were certainly not slaves to it
